About me
Hello! I am Alexis McKinney and I currently teach Functional Academics at THE Prosper High School. I will be starting my 7th year of Teaching in Special Education and my 3rd year at PHS.I have taught across multiple special education settings including Life Skills, Inclusion/Resource (Algebra 1), and Functional Academics.Being a special education teacher is more than a career for me; it’s a passion rooted in building meaningful relationships with students and helping them recognize their unique strengths. I love creating a supportive environment where students feel seen, valued, and capable of success. One of the most rewarding parts of my role is designing individualized curriculum and learning experiences that meet each student’s specific needs, learning style, and goals. Watching students gain confidence, make progress, and celebrate achievements big or small is what inspires me every day.
