Sara Mooney is an educator and Advanced Learning Specialist with 25 years of experience in gifted education, curriculum design, and instructional leadership. Currently serving in Richardson Independent School District, she specializes in Depth and Complexity, Depth of Knowledge (DOK), higher-order thinking, critical thinking, and rigorous questioning strategies that elevate student learning and engagement.
In addition to her district leadership work, Sara serves as an educational consultant for
JTaylor Education and
Riverside Insights, supporting educators and districts through professional learning, curriculum development, and advanced instructional practices.
With a strong background in advanced and GT curriculum development, particularly in secondary mathematics, Sara is passionate about helping educators create challenging, differentiated learning experiences that promote inquiry, problem-solving, and deep conceptual understanding. She enjoys partnering with teachers to build rigorous instructional practices that inspire students to think critically and learn deeply.
